The porchetta sandwich

Here is a guest submission from Craig Heitczman he is a big supporter of the mansion and has a sick food blog of his own called we ate that check it out at www.weatethat.com

Here is our porchetta sandwich, by far one of the best things I have ever made and one of the best sandwiches evers tasted. All of the ingredients piled high on the fresh roll was just picture perfect. Our first bite was filled with intense flavors and pure joy. We had managed to make the perfect dish, it tasted better than we imagined. We knew instantly that this dish will be a hit any where we make it or wherever we bring it. Summer BBQs, Jets Tailgates and impromptu gatherings beware the Porchetta is now lurking.

The Game Changer

This submission by Dan Donohue may certainly be what it's title claims it is. Dan wasted no time this BBQ season to start experimenting with potato products. This reminds me of the potato salad hotdog we received from Kevin Heitczman a few years back. It's official, it's spring time and grills are going! Don't be flavor shy throw something crazy on that burger and see what it tastes like and don't be put off by the glares of bland lovers.

"How you feel about this sandwich Matty B! 2 bubba burger turkey burger patties w american cheese, mashed potatoes in between, ketchup and mayo on top!"

Lisa's in Hoboken

My boy Vinnie Sammon sent this one in. Vinny is one of the best Bmx street riders to ever come out of the North Jersey NYC area he also happens to be a sandwich enthusiast. He picked up the classic Italian from Lisa's deli in Broboken located on 9th st and park check it out if your in the area. Also check out Animal Bikes and Skavenger

Banana King

Banana King is an unreal Latin American style fast food chain in New Jersey that prides themselves on their shakes. Best shakes in the world according to the slogan. Banana king is primarily found in the hood its 3 locations are Patterson, Passaic, and North Bergan. They have a 6 option menu with an assortment of empanadas and other deep fried glory. I'm always a steak and cheese or a chicken cheesesteak kind of guy but on my last visit I decided to give the #1 a shot it's alway intrigued me but I didn't have the balls the stray from the sure thing. I'm sure most of you are familiar with this feeling. There is nothing worse then blowing your sandwich selection. I took a leap of faith that day and ordered the "Arepa" after all its the #1 there is no way the king was going to let me down. In the picture on the menu it looks like its on 2 pancakes of some sort rather than bread an I was pretty psyched on that. It turns out that the bread is made out of ground corn dough and fried on a griddle. This thing was AMAZING I also enjoyed 2 empanadas but they didn't survive for the photo shoot. If you are ever in northern NJ check out banana king. The North Bergan location is the least sketchy of the 3 in terms of the neighborhood it's in but you are almost guaranteed an entertaining visit at the Passaic and Patterson locations. Enjoy and stay hungry!

Ok bring it back

As I was sifting through the mountains junk mail from the past year yesterday I uncovered this cry for revival from none other than Craig Heitczman he started a dope food blog called we ate that check it out at www.weatethat.com

"Time to re stock the blog, with some real commitment.
With the creation of my new food blog I feel that this needs to be brought back as well.
I did a google image search of my name and what comes back in my results but my Pancake breakfast sandwich from 2008.

The blog must return so here a classic but time tested submission, I submit to you the Fried Pumpkin Sandwich.

This baby is topped with fresh pumpkin, homemade mozzarella (best I have ever had), marinated red peppers topped with balsamic vinegar.

You can only get this at Famous Deli-Licious Italian Pork Store in Middletown, NY. http://www.famousdelilicious.com/

This sandwich is so amazing have it once and you will crave it forever. "

Spain Revisited

About a year ago my buddy Matt Randazzo moved to Spain and sent us a unreal lamb havarti and tomato sandwich. I had the chance to visit him with some friends this past fall and discovered even more glory in the same sketchy little spot he described in the previous post. What I have here is a marinated pork chop sandwich with tierno cheese (the most unbelievable cheese I have ever had in my life ) and juicy red tomatoes on fresh baked bread. Matt took us to his favorite local spot our first night in Madrid. We all enjoyed this pork wonder and drank the night away enjoying the amazing free tapas as well as the the craziness provided by the locals that is Viriato.

Back by POPULAR demand

I've been slacking on the mansion for the past 2 years for numerous reasons. But an overwhelming tsunami of demands by the sandwich loving community both online and in person have convinced me to get it going again. That and the fact I can do it all from my phone now. I have decided to get back on my horse and once again dominate the sandwich world online. Submissions are still welcomed with open arms no matter the picture quality sandwichmansion@gmail.com

The reason I picked this sandwich for the return post is to raise awareness of boars head's new line of cheeses one of which happens to be chipotle gouda oly chit mang! If your local deli doesn't have it yet ask for it. It's unreal.

So what I'm working with here is cracked pepper turkey, capicolla, chipotle Gouda and jalapeƱo mayo. It's one hot tamale that packs a punch of flavor!
